It’s a good date, right?? Hopefully no rain and not too hot! But in all seriousness, Rosemary’s parents are no longer with us, and she was trying to find a way to honor their presence. Rosemary’s parents were married Saturday, June 13th, 1981. We found it fitting that on their 40th wedding anniversary, we would be married and take the proverbial torch from them. Their relationship was a testament of hope, honor, and faith in the midst of great adversity, showing that love is all that’s needed to conquer anything standing in the way.
Honestly? We’re old and are so not about attention. LOL. We’re also introverts, so just getting on board with an actually attended ceremony and brunch is leaps and bounds better than what we were first going to do (it would have involved with a trip to City Hall on Aaron’s lunch break...LOL). We felt like a brunch was more intimate, and we can spend time with everyone, without all the hubbub of a “reception”. We can toast, we can sway to piped in music, but don’t count on a bouquet and garter toss, line dances, or stuffiness! Also, and maybe more importantly, we have a really early flight the next day for our honeymoon, so we are trying to be rested (remember, we old!).
Well, fingers crossed COVID is conquered1! We are spending a week in/around Bangkok, Thailand (Aaron’s bucket list trip) and then we’re off to a week in the Maldives for a relaxing time! We’re super excited, so if anyone has been to either, please reach out and tell us what we can’t miss! UPDATE: Thailand and the Maldives are postponed due to COVID! Whomp Whomp! Don’t feel so bad for us, though! We are going back to the first “on a plane” vacation destination: New Orleans!!! So yay for that! (I think Aaron might be more excited to indulge in all the food NOLA has to offer than he is to marry Rosemary!) :)
We would say business casual. Suits? Cool. Khakis and a polo? Cool as well. Dresses or slacks for the ladies? Works for us.
UPDATE: Because we are on federal grounds for the ceremony, as of now, masks will be required and provided. No, you do not have to provide proof of vaccination to attend (Rosemary and Aaron are fully vaccinated, though). You do not have to have a COVID test done beforehand, either. Our venue might require temperature checks, they are unclear as rules change constantly. If you are uncomfortable with either having to potentially wear a mask or being around guests that may or may not be vaccinated, that’s okay! We plan on streaming our ceremony via FaceBook Live, in a private group. We take no offense either way, honestly. COVID is a weird, strange, and unknown time. Just let us know you need the link or accept the invite into the group once sent to the invitees!
Of course! We have a private Facebook group set up just for FYIs as well as live streaming the ceremony, so no one misses anything! The Facebook group is searchable. “Romancing the Sloan” is the name, or the web link is www.facebook.com/groups/romancingthesloan We will have to approve you, and forgive the bareness of the group thus far! We will be posting more as the day gets closer!! Thank you so much!
We love kiddies, of course, but because of COVID-related restrictions, we had to make the difficult decision to have a child-free ceremony and reception. Our guest list had to be cut in order to accommodate restrictions, and unfortunately with that, also cut the kiddies out as well! We apologize and understand if accommodations can’t be made for your children! We are offering a live stream for you and your family to enjoy if leaving the kids at home is not a viable option!
