We Kept It Totally Casual

or, Sometimes Fate Happens

On their first date at Holy Ghost, Stephanie told Reid that she was "just looking for something casual." Reid fully knew that they wanted Steph to be in their life way more than casually, but agreed because they are, like, so cool and chill. Together, they then spent the next 3 hours talking over a single drink. Thankfully, on their second date, Steph followed up that casual conversation and told Reid, "I just want to housewife for you so badly." Steph is also so cool and chill. Six months later they moved in together (living the modern lesbian dream), and since then have been planning to keep it cool and casual forever.

What's in a Name?

or, Why Rosek?

Reid & Stephanie find joy in making meaningful, deep connections within their communities. They were each raised to be loyal, loving, caring, and thoughtful. They were both drawn together by their tender beliefs to hold space for their loved ones, show up for others, and live joyfully. What does this have to do with Rosek? Well, thanks for reading: Stephanie spent her summers growing up with her grandparents at "the lake" - an idyllic, secluded, woodsy paradise in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Here, Stephanie spent the beautiful summer months immersed in the delights of nature and simple life, lead by Grandma Joyce and Grandpa Bob - the Roseks. Grandpa Bob showed Stephanie the joys of nature: he loved gardening and landscaping, fishing, and woodworking. Grandma Joyce encouraged Stephanie's creativity and whimsy: teaching her to sew, bake, craft, and go on adventures. Experiencing this summer playground and being so loved deeply shaped the person that Stephanie has become in her adult life. Reid & Stephanie were able to visit "the lake" together in 2024. They were able to spend time with Grandma Joyce and others in Stephanie's family, reveling in the magic still alive in those woods. Reid & Stephanie took Grandma Joyce out for a trek around the property, embracing her stories about everything: the red clay roads, the beaver dams, the taste of fresh berries, wildlife sightings (and encounters!), Grandpa Bob's memorial garden, and especially all of the adventures they had with Stephanie growing up. Reid was able to see how truly formative this magic and this love was in shaping Stephanie. Grandma Joyce is now 98 years old, and has seen the world through more than any of us can fathom. She continues to live her life dedicated to love. She is welcoming, sweet, inquisitive, creative, silly, and soft. Grandma Joyce immediately and easily adopted Reid into the family at their first meeting - a beautiful reminder of this ability for unconditional love. (Though, let's face it, Reid is easy to love.) Reid & Stephanie have opted to take Rosek as their married surname because it is a name that reflects love, devotion, curiosity, and resplendent joy - values that they will hold for their lifetime together.
