Eastern Michigan University’s Pride of the Peninsula Marching Band is where it all started. Although they marched together for 4 year prior, they didn't end up dating until 2014. They always said “you may meet your future spouse in this group” and Rose and Dan are yet another couple that were brought together through music. They were both absolutely clueless at first, but the more they saw each other and the more others kept hinting, the more they thought just maybe. From there the pieces kept falling together perfectly. In 2015 Dan graduated with his Masters in Experimental Psychology and Rose graduated with a Bachelors in Music Education.
Dan was accepted to a PhD program at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM so it was time to head to the Southwest. Rose taught elementary music and then high school band at Mayfield High School where Dan helped out as the percussion instructor. Together they established the first winter percussion group for Mayfield. Pushing past set-backs (thanks covid), Dan graduated with his Doctorate in Engineering Psychology!!!
Although Dan’s allergies would say otherwise, they are bleeding hearts for animals and were known for always having cats or a litter of kittens on hand that they fostered and found homes for…over 40 of them! So it’s a miracle they only kept 4 of them! It started with Mr. Feeny that they adopted from the shelter, then added Poco and Sombra after they both had litters of kittens and the covid baby is Bruni! They met an abundance of amazing students, people, and cats in Las Cruces and even convinced a few of them to move to Colorado with them (cats and people)!
Shortly after buying their house in Colorado Springs, they adopted their dog, Raya from a local pet rescue. Currently, Dan is a UX researcher out of Denver and does usability research for large companies like Ebay, Facebook, and Indeed to help improve their products. Rose teaches High School and Elementary Band in the Widefield School District where Dan helps as the percussion instructor. They recently revived the winter percussion group at the high school.
Marriage!
