Found our forever!

… it was Halloween. We were at a party hosted by my godsister, Desi, and her boyfriend at the time, who was in the Navy with Jasuha, and it seemed like half the boat was there too. We met and... neither of us really remember it well because of how many people were there, and because it was 15 years ago. As time went on, we saw more of each other and eventually we started directly chatting. I kept him in the friend zone for years before he asked me on our first date! Then it was a few more years before we made things official, just after my 25th birthday, and we've been going strong ever since!

It was just after midnight on January first, 2021. He sneakily hung fairy lights and spread flower petals around the front entry while he got my friend to distract me in the other room. Then he turns off all the lights and started a song playing on his phone, "This Is It" by Scotty McCreery, and he pulls me up off the couch and starts dancing with me. Then he leads me through the kitchen to the front of the house and I see lights and flowers and I wonder what’s going on? Then the song hits its chorus and he drops the knee and pulls out the ring box, and I started hysterically laughing like a maniac because I couldn’t believe this was happening!! He got up smiling at me and says, “is that a ‘yes’ then?” to which I just nodded, and he put that ring on my finger! Then I looked at him and said, “wait, you actually need to ask me the question!” So, he got back down on one knee and asked me to marry him, and I did say “Yes”! We’d been together for 5 years and after the mess of 2020, came through it all the stronger. I had expressed interest in exchanging rings, and I shamelessly sent Jasuha many a ring-pic over the course of that year, but I definitely wasn’t expecting it to happen when it did! It’s been worth waiting for!
