Logan and I met at Cross Lutheran's youth group during the summer before my junior year and his senior year of high school. It was a Teen Worship night, and I saw a cute boy across the room singing like no one was watching. I recognized him as the boy I had seen before yelling strange things from the top of the staircase in the youth center. These are two equally accurate representations of Logan. A mutual friend gave Logan my number, and we began texting, which turned into hanging out and me waiting in the Yorkville Panera parking lot late at night waiting for Logan to get off work. Fast forward four LONG months, and Logan finally asked me to be his girlfriend--under the stars on November 22nd. I suppose there's something to becoming best friends first and dating second :)
Now really fast forward--through years of long-distance while we attended college in different states. Soon after I graduated, Logan and I went on vacation to my favorite place, Maine, with my parents. We planned a trip to my favorite jeweler, Cross Jewelers, with the intention of choosing a ring. Together, we found the perfect one featuring my favorite stone, Sparhawk Maine tourmaline. Logan immediately swept the ring away, stating that there needed to be SOME element of surprise and instructing me to forget what it looked like. I thought I wouldn't see it again for months, but Logan must have decided I have a very short-term memory, and he proposed two days later--on our last day in Maine. We got engaged in front of Nubble Lighthouse to the cheers of onlooking tourists. We turned around to express our gratitude, only to realize no one was looking at us, and another couple had gotten engaged in the exact same moment. But we didn't need a big to-do. We spent the afternoon walking the Marginal Way hand-in-hand and celebrated with Rum Punch at Barnacle Billy's. Maine has always been a special place for me; getting engaged there was an absolute dream. We are so excited to celebrate this next phase in our lives with you!
We got married at 1:00pm on Saturday, March 21, 2020, and Illinois' first Stay at Home order went into effect at 5:00pm the same day! We're so grateful that we still got to have our scaled-down, distanced ceremony in the church and that we were able to share it with many of you over livestream. Now, we can't wait to celebrate with you all - nearly one and a half years later! We hope you can join us on Saturday, September 11th, 2021 for the party we've been waiting for!
