The trip is approximately 420 miles and takes about 7 hours and 35 minutes without major stops or traffic. The final miles leading into Highlands involve scenic but winding mountain roads, so allow extra time for this part of the journey. Flying Options For guests who prefer to fly, the closest major airports are: • Asheville Regional Airport (AVL): About a 1.5-hour drive to Highlands. This is the closest airport option. • Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP): About a 2-hour drive to Highlands. • Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL): About a 2.5-hour drive to Highlands. ATL often has the most flight availability and competitive prices, but the drive is slightly longer. We recommend checking flight availability and prices into AVL, GSP, and ATL to find the best option for your travel plans.
