In October 2020, Greg moved to New Orleans for a new assignment. At first, he wasn’t exactly thrilled about being stationed there—but while apartment hunting, he stumbled upon the American Can Apartments in Mid-City. Something about it just felt right—as if it was where he was meant to be, even if he didn’t know why at the time. Little did he know, Rose had moved to the same neighborhood just a few months earlier. She, too, had felt an instant connection to the "Can" and knew it was where she was meant to be. Neither of them could have predicted how right they were. Several months later, fate (and a sunny day) brought them both to the pool. Greg noticed Rose right away—but as he likes to tell it, she was a bit "stand-offish" at first. But first impressions can be deceiving. Despite the slow start, a friendship began to grow. That friendship turned into a close connection—filled with laughter, shared stories, and an ease that felt effortless. For a year and a half, they lived in the friend zone—laughing, supporting each other, and slowly building the kind of bond that only comes with genuine connection. Sometimes, the best things are worth the wait. Eventually, they took a leap—and just like that, they went from friend zone to end zone. And the rest is history.
