How We Met

June 23, 2016

Danny and I met during our freshman year at Georgia Tech at our campus ministry, Christian Campus Fellowship (CCF). We became close when we studied abroad together on GT's Pacific Program - a 12-week program in New Zealand, Australia, and Fiji. It was an awesome experience, and our friend group became really close throughout our time traveling together. I started liking Danny while on this trip, but it took him a little bit to catch up ;) After getting home, we continued to stay in touch. We were both in Atlanta for the summer, him for an internship and I was in classes. We ended up watching the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs together and watching a sermon series at our church together. Not too long after, Danny got the hint. He asked me to go out for cheesecake, and we went on our first date on June 23, 2016. Almost 4 years later, we are so excited to be getting married!

The Proposal

March 21, 2020

It was a beautiful spring day here in Atlanta on March 21, 2020. In the midst of the pandemic, Danny and I had plans to take out Jim N Nicks BBQ (one of our favorites) for dinner and take it back to my place. Danny suggested we stop by a little park in Smyrna close to the restaurant before heading to get the food. This park was one we had been to before, with a cute little gazebo, nice pond, and lots of flowers and trees. When we got to the park, Danny pretended to call the restaurant to order the food. In actuality, he called my sister, Rachel, who was already there with her camera, waiting to take photos. We went in the park and walked by the gazebo, then turned to walk down a path lined with flowers. After saying some sweet things about how he loved that we could enjoy the small, everyday moments together, while I was slightly distracted by the pretty flowers, he said "so I have a question..." He then got down on one knee and proposed! After that, I noticed Rachel taking photos, and her boyfriend Elijah joined from where he had been keeping watch for us to arrive. My parents also showed up, surprising both Danny and I! We took some fun photos with Rachel, and then Danny revealed that he had planned a picnic for us, which the two of us shared in front of the gazebo. It was the best day!
