Fresh seafood, straight out the sea, right on the pier. VERY casual but great food.
Scotland is windy :) Troon Beach is popular for kitesurfing https://www.kitesurfscotland.co.uk/, https://kitesurfinguk.org.uk/uk-kite-beaches/kitesurfing-troon-north-beach/
Good restaurant choice in Troon, near the water.
GRO Coffee in Irvine is an excellent organic bakery and coffee shop. It is about 10 minutes drive from Troon but there are also lots of other cafes and bakeries in Troon itself.
Lido Troon is a closeby restaurant -- good food and family friendly.
Good chip shop and you can eat in.
Hendrick's Gin is produced in nearby Girvan. The distilery is not open to the public for visits but you can certainly drink some while you're nearby :)
For those wishing to do some whisky tasting while visiting, the Deanston, Auchentoshan, Glengoyne distileries are your closest options to Glasgow. For those travelling to the Isle of Arran while in Troon, the namesake distillery is an option. For those venturing further afield on the west coast, Oban Distillery is one of the smallest producers and the town is lovely to visit, and you can get the day ferry to nearby Mull and visit the Tobermory distillery which produces both unpeated (Tobermory) and peated (Ledaig) whiskies. Islay is the most famous of the whisky isles but requires a longer trip. Islay whisky includes peaty options like Laphroaig, Lagavulin, Ardbeg, Caol Ila and Jura as well as lighter options like Bunnahabhain and Bowmore.
