The genesis of Rosa and Ryan’s love story is one that can only exist in these modern times – the DMs. The two first laid eyes on each other in the spring of 2017 at the front desk of the Lorain County Community College Fitness Center. Rosa worked at the gym, and if you know anything about Ryan, you’re safe to assume he was a frequent visitor. After numerous interactions, Rosa sent Ryan a DM on Instagram and their first date was born. The two went to Mellow Mushroom for pizza and had a night cap at Mitchell’s Ice Cream where they enjoyed vanilla bean and vegan chocolate ice cream. As summer’s heat swept in, so did their love. Evening hangs at Guardian’s games turned into late night bonfires, Ryan learned more and more about Rosa’s impeccable taste and before long, they both met each other’s families. And like it does to us all, time keeps moving and fortunately for Rosa and Ryan, they kept navigating the ups and downs while still pouring into each other. In 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic struck, the pair moved in with Ryan’s dearest Aunt Marsha. After almost two years of pandemic living, they moved to the Akron area in the fall of 2022 where Ryan completed his degree in nutrition at the University of Akron and Rosa graduated with a degree in interior design at Kent State University. Some of their greatest memories are the trips embarked upon over the years. The couple has traveled all over the United States from Arizona to Maine to Florida to Tennessee, among other states. They’re frequent visitors of New York City, spending time with Rosa’s family and cousin turned best friend turned sister Sofia. Outside of the U.S., Rosa and Ryan have visited Mexico, Ireland, Spain and Paris. Rosa lived in France for about six months studying abroad, and their time apart was a true test of the foundations of their relationship. To no one’s surprise, the distance between the two helped grow their love. Ryan spent 10 days in Europe with Rosa during her studies. The two say that chapter defined their relationship, ultimately strengthening their bond. Perhaps their most memorable trip was Chicago (2024). Rosa had a work event scheduled in the city, so the pair made a trip out of it. While at a blues concert at Millennium Park’s Jay Pritzker Pavilion, Ryan suggested exploring the park and watching the sunset through the city’s architecture. He suggested filming an “outfit of the day” video, one of the traditions they loved doing to capture where they were, who they were with and express their shared love of fashion. While shooting the video, Ryan began expressing his love and devotion. Then he got down on one knee and proposed. Rosa said “YES.” With blues music playing in the background and a cotton-candy pink sunset over Millennium Park, it was the perfect surprise. Ryan had kept the secret and Rosa was completely surprised. The couple say their wedding is a public display of their lifelong commitment to each other. They’re partners, companions, teammates and lovers who want to continue riding the rollercoaster that is life, together.
