Chris and Liz crossed each other's path several times over the years without knowing it, at various gatherings or one of the many The People Upstairs shows. One beautiful Spring day Liz went to see her girlfriend's band Hellabaloo take the stage with their teacher COB. He remembers seeing her from the stage with a bit more than the usual memory one has of meeting someone casually for the first time. Her friends had already asked her to "just learn guitar" and "join their band"...come on they said, it'll be fun! That week Chris messaged Liz explaining to her that he is in the band with the girls, he's their teacher and has his own rock music school. Liz had just crashed her mountain bike and suffered a hand injury so had to temporarily decline. But teacher Chris was persistent and three weeks later messaged her again. She said what the heck and made the trek to Lake Worth from Fort Lauderdale to take her first lesson. Chris was an excellent teacher and the school was fun and drew her in instantly. Over the next few months the two got to know each other through music one hour a week at a time. Chris would occasionally compliment her or be refreshingly sweet or charming and it was clear that there was chemistry between them. One day she remarked how she had always loved Lake Worth but hadn't spent much time in the downtown area. Chris obliged and made himself her tour guide that day. They stopped into a few bars and restaurants, and ran into mutual friends and jumped on their golf carts and hung out in their kitchens.
