We Are Getting Married!

God began this amazing love story when He both sent us to Oral Roberts University in the Spring of 2016. The very first time Devaughn layed eyes on Rosa, it wasn’t what most movies made it seem. He saw her in a Physical Education class and thought “why does this girl look so stuck up and entitled”. Immediately after that class, He found out that they had a composition class together where there were only two seats left. As a result, they sat together. January 13th, 2016 was the first time Rosa and Devaughn communicated, and was the beginning of FOREVER! At this point, Devaughn was into Rosa. Rosa, at this point, didn’t even have Devaughn on her radar. She thought, “he’s just another guy trying to talk to me.” As the semester went on, Devaughn would become overly excited to go to Physical Education and Composition classes. It was not to exercise or learn to write but to see that “Beautiful Panamanian Princess”. Despite his energy, she was determined to confine him to the friend zone, but what she found out during the summer of 2016 was that Devaughn was a persistent young man. During the fall of 2016, Devaughn strategically took a desk job in the Claudius lobby (the dorm she lived in at the time) from 11pm until 7am. Rosa’s friend suggested the idea of spending 11pm to 1am with him at the front desk. It was such a huge success that they committed to spending every Friday night with him for the duration of the semester. The night of Homecoming 2016, our friendship changed. Instead of going to the homecoming party, Devaughn spent the night comforting Rosa and wiping tears away from her eyes. It was that night that Rosa said, “I think I love Devaughn”. November 13th, 2016 was the night that her whole life changed. As time went on, Rosa and Devaughn experienced moments of amazing joy as well as moments of deep pain. However through it all, the Lord has been evident in their relationship and their marriage will be a testament of his faithfulness!

In July 2019, the Lord gave Devaughn a dream where he showed him the date, September 21, 2019, He wanted him to propose to Rosa. It seemed insane to him since it was so close, but he was committed to being obedient. As that time drew closer, Devaughn coordinated with some of her closest friends to do the usual pre-engagement tradition of getting her nails done without giving any hints. Three weeks prior to the engagement, Devaughn found out he had a work obligation that weekend that clashed with the engagement plans. As a result, he consulted with his bosses and they granted him a few extra hours to make his Panamanian Princess’s dreams a reality. The day of the engagement, everything was planned and set except one thing - the weather. It poured that morning to the point that Devaughn almost cancelled the whole proposal. However, the friends that he had in on the surprise found an amazing place that would be a great substitute. They coordinated and arranged everything just as he would have if he were there. As the window to propose is closing, the photographer texted Devaughn the code word “the floor plans are due” which meant we are all set and ready for your big moment. With a lot of resistance due to the sprinkling rain, Rosa hesitated to come out of the car. After going back and forth for a while, she finally relinquished her control and walked into the biggest blessing and surprise of her life - a Marquise/Round White Gold ring with the promise of Devaughn’s eternal love.
