How They Met

August 2015

Rory and Kara met at a mutual friend's house, when they were both spending the weekend there. They immediately bonded over whiskey and Star Wars, and were fast friends!

The Beginning

January 2017

Kara had disappeared from social events for a while (having a baby will do that to you!), but they reconnected at a gathering. Thanks to one too many cocktails, Kara got the courage to admit to her longstanding crush and asked Rory to coffee. He immediately said yes... like, before Kara even finished the sentence.

The First Date

January 2017

The pair met for coffee in the afternoon, and talked for HOURS about everything under the sun. Family, politics, Star Wars, music, Monty Python... it turned out they had a lot more in common than a mutual attraction! The snow was piling up outside, though, and it was becoming unsafe to drive... but neither of them wanted the date to end, so they agreed to get together again soon.

The Proposal

New Year's Day 2021

The two were both at home, recovering from COVID, having missed out on Christmas and New Year's celebrations with friends and family, and pretty bummed in general about the pandemic. Rory said he wanted to make sure that 2021 got off on a happier note, and at midnight, he gave Kara ring and asked her to be his wife. Obviously, she said yes, or else you wouldn't be here reading this!
