Ashley and Breanne became best friends when they met walking (actually maybe crawling?) the halls of Jemini arena as their brothers played hockey. Go Bobcats. When the Chaben family moved in across the street from the Eggum’s at Emma Lake - the rest was history. Ashley and Breanne have been inseparable ever since. Though Breanne didn’t have any sisters, she often felt like an honorary one to Ashley, Leesa, and Kim. Together the duo was often either laughing playing games and cards, or watching movies - now we get to do much of the same at Emma Lake or at home, except often the movie is selected by Ashley’s eldest daughter, Lucy. She has good taste, like her mom. We’ve got many more movie nights ahead of us - and one more addition to the movie party coming with Ashley and the love of her life, her husband Jordan, are expecting their second baby girl!
Megan Shimla
Bridesmaid
AND Emcee* Megan and Bre met in University, they joined JDC West (nerds) and were both looking to find a friend. Sitting next to one another in presentations and agreeing to ‘walk in together’ to social outings, a very fast friendship grew. This includes Christmas cards at Walmart after 6 months of knowing each other - see above. A common joke in the first year of friendship was how often we got asked ‘how long have you two known each other?’ And our reply was always just a matter of months to their surprise. It’s now been a decade, and when we get asked about being best friends now the response is a bit less entertaining, but we’ve got many more stories and seasons of life together now. Some great ones include graduating together, getting our first ‘big girl jobs’, Megan meeting and then marrying the love of her life, her husband Eric, and becoming a mom of two, to Joelle and Henry. Now weekends in the Shimla yard surrounded by laughing kids is our favourite pastime.

Introduced in the same moment as Derek, Matt and Denis bonded in high school over a love of video games, sports, and music. Since then they’ve been inseparable. This extended to their working lives and sharing multiple employer’s, including Derek, who would undoubtedly give high praise to their combined work ethic. Over the years the shared love of video games, sports, and music has only grown, with party members having grown when he met his wife, Jenn. Since then they’ve added two beautiful daughters to their family, Ashtyn and Taliya. While their lives have become more hectic, late nights playing games, trips to Calgary and Edmonton for festivals, and countless messages about fantasy football remain a staple of their unconditional friendship.
Derek Guinan

AND Emcee* Introduced in the same moment as Matt, Derek and Denis bonded in high school over a love of video games, sports, and music. Since then, the only thing separating them has been the distance between Saskatoon and Rosetown, where Derek moved shortly after high school to begin his working career. Around 2011 this separation was removed when Denis moved to Rosetown to live and work with Derek at Rosetown Mainline. During this time their friendship grew, transitioning into a lifelong bond and solidifying the trio between Matt, Denis, and Derek. In Rosetown, Derek met his wife Jazmine and have since expanded their family with 3 wonderful children, George, Oliver, and Iris.

Born and raised in Saskatoon, SK. Went to Hugh Cairns school, somehow never met Denis. Decided to take a chance on Hinge and ask this nice guy on a date. Fell in love with him and marrying him August 15th and hope you can be there!
