Ronya was on a cruise with her college track and field teammate/friend (Shea) and Ryan was on the same cruise with his college roommates (Tony and Marshall). On the first day of the cruise, Ronya and Shea were walking around looking for chairs to relax on when Ryan's friend's mom (Mrs. Pignatano) spotted the ladies and gave up the men's chairs for them to relax on. A few minutes later the men arrived and Mrs. Pignatano introduced everyone and the rest was history for Ryan and Ronya! A few months after the cruise ship, Ronya and Ryan reconnected and began their relationship. For the first three years, Ronya and Ryan endured a long-distant relationship until Ronya luckily received a job offer from the Maryland Department of Health and finally moved closer to Ryan. Six years later the couple was ready to say I-do!

Ronya was getting ready for what was supposed to be a day of just family with her mother, father, brother, and two fabulous uncles down in D.C. As soon as they arrived in Georgetown, Ronya's uncle directed her and Ryan to take a picture when Ryan started getting down on one knee. Ronya and Ryan were surprised with Ryan's mother and father and family friends. They later celebrated at the Arts Club in D.C. with champagne and delicious food surrounded by their family and friends.
