Wedding Party

James Kamah Yancy

Best Man

James K. Yancy, bestman to Ronuel Eku Verdier. I met Ronuel when we first went to take our Entrance at the J. J. Roberts United Methodist High school, and when school open we were put in the same section, our last name had us sitting close to check other, little did I know we'd become lifelong friends, or may I say, Brothers. He's also someone I consider a confident and someone you can count on, I can't count the laughs, and gists we have shared together. We can have intellectual conversations about life and goals we want to achieve.

Maid of Honor

How do you know the bride? It feels like yesterday I was walking back from my dad’s office in 2012, and I heard this angelic voice drifting out of the church. I’m like, Whoa, who’s singing? Turns out it was our bride‑to‑be, practicing for her school singing competition with the choir director. I liked her instantly and wanted to be her friend. I was so shy and couldn’t just walk up and be like, Hey, wanna be BFFs? So I did the most awkward thing ever: I started hanging out with mutual friends just to get close to her (Stalker vibes), I know 😂. Slowly, we ended up in the same circle, formed a singing group, and she kept showing up at church. We started chilling, laughing till our stomachs hurt, crying on each other’s shoulders… I can’t even point to the exact day we became besties, but I do know I crawled my way there, one awkward conversation at a time. 😂😂😂 Fast forward 13 years we’ve been through everything my very best friend. We’ve watched each other turn from clumsy teens into the amazing women we are today. I was present when you and Kulee fell in love, and he has become nothing short of a brother to me. You two are literally ride or die. Seeing you guys fight for love, even when life threw curveballs, has been a masterclass in real, raw love. Yealade, you’ve been my rock, my confidante, my go to person for every secret, every stupid joke, every tear. Watching you say (I do) feels like my own heart just got a hug from the universe. I love you to infinity and beyond ❤

I would like to consider him my best friend, though sometimes I still wonder if he feels the same way. Our story go way back to elementary school, first grade, where it all started. Back then, he and Seung Pil Coleman were closer, but over time, we grew into something special, the kind of friendship where, wherever you see him, you see me. We liked almost everything. We played basketball together, shared toys, and found joy in the simplest moments. I remember the first time I had “PBJ”, it was at your house one afternoon after school, and Mommy made it for us, and since then, I couldn’t get enough of it. I would look for any excuse to come over for “just that.” You were always the pretty boy among us, singing all those old-school songs and hitting every dance move like you were born for the spotlight. Those were the days that built our bond, days of laughter, friendship, and brotherhood. We graduated from Isaac A. David together, then went on to J.J. Roberts UMS, where we finished high school side by side. Our friendship only grew stronger from there, and today, I don’t just see you as my friend; you’re a brother from another mother. Now, as adults, you’re my hangout buddy, my soon-to-be business partner, and most importantly, one of the realest people I know. Seeing you step into this new chapter of your life makes me Proud. You’ve always been someone with a good heart, and I know you’ll carry that same love and loyalty into your marriage. Congratulations, my brother.

I have known Mercy for about 10 years now. Our friendship started off as a genuine, but distant relationship; the two of us were/are in the same friend group from university, STUPSA. Over the past years, our friendship has become closer, fonder and stronger. I'm typically not the kind of friend who would call/text every day or meet up every time, all the same. I consider Mercy one of my closest friends; a fact she is aware of, knowing she can reach out and open up to me about anything. Mercy is the mother of my daddy, hence, she's my ‘Grandma’ long story, lol. That's the name I've fondly referred to her as for almost all the years I've known her. She calls me ‘Grandchild’. Mercy is such a sweet soul. She's kind, patient and enduring; she's honestly one of the strongest people I know. She's successfully come out on the other side of so many things that others would have been broken by. Over the years, I've watched her grow drastically, by mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally, professionally and academically; making intentional efforts to pick herself up whenever things are unfavorable. She also has the voice of an angel! That would explain it; she's an ‘Angel’s Mother’, also a ‘Sister's Mother’. It's a pleasure and honor for me to be included in the beginning of this new phase of her life and I pray to be included alongside the journey as well. She DESERVES this new chapter and I pray for all the happiness, peace and love upon and between her and my ‘Grandpa’!😄🥰

Bridesmaid

How do you know the Bride: The bride and I went to university together and are proud members of our uni group STUPSA. Mercy and I are “Partners”, that’s what we fondly call each other. The name started from our shared adventures exploring Liberia's nightlife as young adults. Over time, amazingly so, our partnership has evolved beautifully from late nights out to walking through life together. I couldn’t be more grateful for the bond we share. So far, we have been there for each other through some really big moments and the small, and light fun ones too. Mercy, I am truly glad and deeply appreciate how you have included me in your life’s journey. Partner, as you begin this new chapter, I pray it is everything you have imagined, prayed for, and more. May God remain at the center of your marriage. Keep on being the breath of fresh air and sunshine that you are, Miss Sparkle. All my love,

On a bright, sunny 🌞 day in 2008 or before that year, at the house of Aunty Tenneh, who was living in Congo Town back then. I was there to visit Cyrene before choir practice. We got introduced, and we encouraged her to join the church, GATES AGAPE Ministries International. We had the privilege to travel together for an international youth conference and lived together for about two school years. We practically did everything together, except for sharing clothes. For obvious reasons of course 😜. Mercy is persistent, goal-driven, and resilient. My prayer for her is that her home will never lack the blessings that God Almighty has for this institution called marriage. Congratulations as you join in holy matrimony with the one whose heart has accepted. ❤️❤️❤️

In 2022, I saw a strange lady in my department (Human Resources) at NASSCORP, trying to get her enrollment form, but had no idea she and I would end up being friends. I used to love hanging out or being in the company of boys, especially people who were in the same department as Yea-girl. After a few months of her being at NASSCORP, we all started having lunch together every day, and she and I got very close. Here we are today. One of my favorites at NASSCORP.
