a day to remember

Ian booked a cruise for our 3 year anniversary October 26th-31st, 2023. He planned on doing it the first night we arrived, but we were exhausted from our early travel day, and we ended up taking a 4-hour nap that cut into our night. Ian decided the second night would be better. Backstory on how Ian vacations: At precisely 3pm every day on vacation, Ian NEEDS to take his 30-minute power nap or else he will be grumpy the rest of the evening. However, he did not nap this day. Instead, he wanted to “explore the ship” & “see what there was to do,” when in reality, he went to talk to the photographers on board and coordinate the big moment with them. When he came back to the room, he informed me it was a “white party” dress up theme night on the cruise. I did not feel the need to fact check him with the cruise itinerary because I was in full vacation mode. So I wore a nice white dress and platform shoes. Ian took MUCH longer to get ready than usual and to my surprise, I was the one rushing him out the door instead of the other way around like it usually is. At this point, I still had no idea. We finally made it to the 5th floor deck to take sunset photos before dinner and I expressed my concern that no one was around to get a photo of the two of us. He pointed out that there was conveniently a photographer down the deck that we could ask. Thats when I knew. He would NEVER pay for someone to take our photo on vacation. But I let him sweat a little longer so I didn’t ruin the surprise. We took a couple sunset photos and then he got down one knee and proposed to me.
