Austin and Rongfei's love story began on a chilly fall night in September 2017, at Kamp Kiwanis, a summer camp for children with special needs. They were both volunteering with their schools' club, Circle K International, to help clean up the camp when Rongfei called out to Austin. They struck up a conversation, and despite coming from different parts of the world, they found a connection and shared a kiss. The next morning, they went back to their respective schools, but they couldn't stop thinking about each other. Three days after they met, Austin messaged Rongfei on social media, and they chatted for over a month before meeting in person at a club event. They later celebrated Thanksgiving together, and despite the distance between them, they traveled to see each other often. They endured long hours on buses and subways, but their dedication kept their love alive. After graduation in June 2019, Rongfei moved to New York City, and they planned their future together. They found jobs and moved into a new apartment in Queens, which provided them with more space and the opportunity to indulge in the diverse international cuisine available in their neighborhood. However, life threw them a curveball when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and they found themselves staying together in Rongfei's apartment. Despite both being unable to work or go outside due to the virus, they continued to support and care for each other. Austin and Rongfei decided to take their relationship to the next level and get married during the pandemic, but the lockdowns made a courthouse ceremony impossible. They found an officiant who conducted a virtual wedding ceremony on May 20, 2020. Austin and Rongfei were united in marriage, with their family and friends attending the ceremony over Zoom. In the following months, they advanced their careers and moved into a new apartment in Brooklyn, where they were excited to embrace a new lifestyle, exploring vibrant neighborhoods, and trying more new restaurants. They discovered that life is full of opportunities, especially when you have someone to share it with. Their love and commitment to each other only grew stronger, and they knew that they wanted to be together no matter what life threw at them. In 2022, Austin and Rongfei welcomed Jupiter, a new puppy added to their journey together. They reflected on their experiences and realized how far they had come, growing stronger with each challenge. They hoped to inspire others to pursue their dreams with the support of a loved one.
