Imagine God using a mutual friend to connect two people living miles apart in two different cities. That’s exactly what He did for Roneisha and DeKendell. Their story began in December 2022, when Roneisha’s linesister and friend, Tasha, called to ask a simple question: “Are you dating anyone?” When Roneisha said no, Tasha began telling her about a guy she believed would be a perfect match, someone who shared her heart for service, leadership, and purpose. At first, Roneisha was reluctant. She wasn’t interested in a long-distance relationship and wanted to know where he lived. But it’s hard to tell Tasha no, she is in sales! Plus, Roneisha trusted Tasha. If she thought they should meet, she was open to it. And honestly, even if it didn’t turn into anything romantic, she figured she’d still walk away with a new friend. Tasha shared Roneisha’s number with DeKendell. The very next day, he texted her while she was at work, and let’s just say no work got done on either side because they texted each other all day! From that moment on, the two have been talking ever since. One of the things they are most proud of is the commitment they’ve shown throughout their long-distance journey. With DeKendell living in Mobile, Alabama, and Roneisha in Orlando, Florida, their relationship has required sacrifice, intentionality, time management, financial investment, and most importantly, love.
