Rishi and Rondene met in 2012 at George Mason University's Honors College Orientation. She was focused on making new friends as she would be moving to northern Virginia, from Florida, and he was focused on making everyone laugh (as usual). They lived across the hall from each other in the freshman dorms and became good friends throughout college, bonding over rude jokes, talking about dreams and goals, and trying not to take themselves too seriously. When Rishi moved back to northern Virginia in 2018, they reconnected, went on their first date, confessed to having feelings for each other all those years ago, and the rest is history!

Rishi planned a beautiful staycation in D.C. that included an afternoon at the US Botanic Garden and fantastic seats to Hamilton at the Kennedy Center. The next morning, they went on a surprise picnic at one of their favorite places, the Georgetown Waterfront. They went for a short walk afterwards where he proposed in front of a beautiful view of the Potomac. After the proposal, she turned around and was shocked to see their families emerging from the bushes to congratulate them. They all went to a "family" brunch afterwards, where she was even more shocked to see many of their closest friends there ready to celebrate. We are so very thankful for you all and cannot wait to celebrate island-style in Rondene's homeland, Jamaica!
