We met over 15 years ago, as kids playing basketball at the park that was behind Katlyn's childhood home. Every summer before Katlyn moved south, Ron would spend his days playing basketball with his group of friends. When we met, sparks flew... as they do for middle school kids! Life lead us in different directions, but we remained in touch throughout the years. In September of 2016, we decided to give US the shot we never gave us before. After a few months of long distance, Katlyn packed up and left Florida! We were finally living in the same state again! Growing as a couple, and as in love as two people could be.
I thought she was so beautiful, she was wearing black shorts and a plain white tank top. Her hair was in a ponytail with a headband on. Her tan skin, and gorgeous blue eyes were the first thing that I noticed. It wasn't until many years later that we had our first kiss. I knew from the start that she was something special, it just took some time and life's journey to get us together.
The first time we met, I had an instant crush. I would look out of my childhood home's back door every afternoon to see if he was there with our friends. And some days, I wouldn't come out to the basketball court if he wasn't. He was different than the other guys in the group. More quiet, reserved, and was genuinely kind. Most of our childhood days we spent waiting by the computer to see if he was going to log onto instant messenger or borrowing a Nextel to see if he was available to "chirp". I always had a feeling there was something more there, but somehow it wasn't the right time. We had to live hundreds of miles apart, and fade in and out of each other's daily lives to grow on our own to be the couple we are today. I truly believe timing is everything and that is why we were able to be such a perfect fit into one another's lives.
