If you had told us in the summer of 2024 that a three-week Christian intensive would change our lives forever, we probably wouldn't have believed you. We both went to the Alpha Project simply hoping to figure things out and grow. To be honest, we were both still so young in our faith at the time, but the Lord loved us deeply and had an amazing plan in mind. What began as a shared desire to seek Him quickly blossomed into an incredible friendship. We were captivated by each other’s hearts, and by July 14, 2024, we officially started dating! Our journey together is a beautiful story of two completely different worlds colliding. With my move all the way from Kenya to Nebraska for my first year at Southeast Community College, and eventually transferring to Shaw University in Raleigh in the fall of 2022, and Angelleen growing up homeschooled two hours away in Mocksville, NC, our backgrounds couldn't have been more different. Blending our distinct cultures, navigating family dynamics, and bridging the distance wasn't always easy. As we grew closer, we really had to learn how to love one another deeply—not just through those flawless first impressions, but through our differing personalities and everyday imperfections. But God’s grace has been our ultimate bridge, and those challenges have only made our bond stronger. We’ve had the absolute best time stepping into each other’s worlds! Even though sports weren't a big part of Angelleen's life growing up, she has become my biggest cheerleader, always making the drive to support me at my cross-country meets and soccer games. In return, she brought her own beautiful passions to the table and actually taught me how to crochet! We’ve also loved cheering each other on through big personal milestones, like when Angelleen bravely stepped out of her comfort zone to land her first job at Chick-fil-A, and as I prepare to graduate on May 9, 2026! Through every season and every cultural difference, prayer and keeping Jesus at the center have been our anchor as we continue growing in our faith together. On December 28, 2025, we got engaged, and we are counting down the days until we say "I do" on August 8, 2026. We are so incredibly excited to see how God will continue to weave our two completely different backgrounds into one beautiful marriage for His glory!
