Flight

Ben Gurion Airport - Tel Aviv

Tel Aviv (TLV) is the main airport for international flights. Texas folks - look at Turkish and Lufthansa Airlines. East & West Coast crowds - try El Al Airlines. There are direct flights to TLV from New York, Boston, Chicago, Miami, SF, and LA. New VIP service at TLV airport - expedited entry for a fee. We have not used this but those lines can be crazy so it could be worthwhile, especially if traveling with a group: https://www.israelwelcome.com/

Travel Note

TRANSPORTATION

Tel Aviv is very walkable, especially along the beachfront. However, parking and traffic in Tel Aviv is rough and very expensive. We do not recommend renting a car for inside the city of Tel Aviv. Driving outside of Tel Aviv and throughout the country is very easy but inside Tel Aviv itself is difficult. There is no Uber in Tel Aviv but there are cabs - we recommend having your hotel call you a taxi or use a taxi app. Recommended taxi apps: Yango (https://yango.com/en_il/passenger/) Gett (https://gett.com/uk/diresnt/?shortlink=fc20831e&c=DTA_UK_web&pid=Web) There are also scooter and bike rentals (electric & pedal bikes) throughout the city: https://www.tel-o-fun.co.il/en/ Recommended bike rental apps: Moovit, Telobike, Mobike, Bird, Wind, Lime, and Bike. Public transportation (may be lacking for tourists): https://busofash.co.il/home-en/ https://www.tel-aviv.gov.il/en/Live/Transportation/Pages/PublicTransportaiton.aspx

This is NOT an Embassy Suites. This is near the U.S. Embassy Branch Office (which has hired Israeli security out front). Basic hotel but VERY large room, especially for Tel Aviv. No breakfast included. Ask for a room on the Shalom Aleichem Street side, facing HaYarkon St (you may be able to stick your head out of the hotel window to see the ocean).
