It all started when Romy's friend decided to sign them up for a tutoring session in the cadaver lab. Kenneth was the tutor. The topic - the heart. It was Kenneth's first season skiing, and after he met Romy he would brag to her at school about all of his days on the mountain, and how good he was getting. Romy decided to put his skills to the test and open his eyes a little more. She invited him Nordic skiing, and after a few good falls and a really good workout, he stuck around to help her set up for a work event. A few weeks later, they went backcountry skiing with another friend. And that's kind of just how they started - on the mountain. Their friendship evolved from ski hangouts to hikes and runs and climbs and sushi and ramen. When Kenneth left for his 6 week clinical, they kept in touch by exchanging pictures of the pretty flowers and mushrooms and animals tracks they encountered on individual runs and hikes, hundreds of miles away. Over Memorial Day Weekend, Kenneth had been planning a trip to Lassen National Park. He was planning to invite Romy, too. Romy was planning a trip to Capitol Reef with her little sister and a few friends. She beat Kenneth to the invite, and he agreed to join. It was on this trip that Kenneth told Romy how he felt about her, and she said "same." Thankfully that was enough encouragement for him! The pair started dating a couple weeks later, 2 days after Kenneth returned from his clinical. Kenneth knew Romy's relationship with God was important to her, and agreed to come along for that journey, too. They are grateful for such a loving & welcoming community that helped develop their relationship even further. It's kind of wild to think about how Romy & Kenneth found each other. Who would have thought that a snow loving, Alaskan grown adventurer would meet a SoCal soccer player in a school cadaver lab in Provo, Utah!?!? Despite all odds, it's clear to Kenneth and Romy that God led them right to each other, at just the right time.
