How We Met

12.19.2012

It's no secret that Abby and Sean do not have much in common. But, back in 2012, they had one thing in common - Bobby. Bobby is Abby's brother and high school friend of Sean. Over the years, Abby had met most of Bobby's friends but she never met Sean. Bobby had always referred to a friend named "Romi" but Abby never met him while they were actually living under the same roof. Abby was home for Christmas vacation during her Sophomore year at Towson. She went out with her mom for the day, not realizing that she would come home and her life would be changed. She walked into the living room and sat down before realizing that there was a strange man sitting opposite her. (Spoiler alert: It was Sean!) Sean and Bobby had plans that night but Sean and Abby wound up talking for about an hour and a half before they left. Not even thirty minutes after they left, Abby had a Facebook message from Sean. They had their first date the next day!

The Proposal

12.19.2017

"I am a sucker for all things Christmas and I always dreamt of a Christmas time proposal and Sean did not disappoint. On our 5 year anniversary, Sean took us to our usual anniversary spot, The Food Market in Hampden. We had dinner but he hardly ate anything. After dinner, we walked to a local attraction - Miracle on 34th Street. Hampden locals on 34th street go all out with Christmas lights and other holiday decor making it a picture perfect scene. We walked around for a little while and then, in the middle of the street, Sean dropped to one knee and popped the question." "As if this wasn't wonderful enough - what made the proposal all the more special was the preparation. Unbeknownst to me, Sean had been planning. He had planned with my mom, grandmother and his mom. My grandmother offered Sean her engagement ring months before the proposal. He made the trip from Ellicott City, Maryland to Easton, Pennsylvania to visit my grandmother and get the ring. What made this even more special was that Sean brought his own mom, Denise along for the ride. When I heard this, I felt the strangest sense of contentment come over me. I was so glad that my mom, grandmother and future mother-in-law played such an integral part of our story. I am so grateful that our families were able to be part of this." -Abby
