It all started at a house party on Mckinley Street in Oshkosh on that July summer night in 2013. I had just returned from my study abroad trip in China and Logan was about to get promoted in the Army the next morning. (It was a rough next morning for him.) Outside around the fire, we recognized each other and realized that we were in a handful of classes together… we wound up both having the exact same major and minor (Interactive Web Management and International Business). We slowly started hanging out. Hiking, boating, and we even went skydiving together after the first month of officially meeting each other! Come Fall, little did we know that we both applied for the same Marketing Internship at Pierce Manufacturing in Appleton, WI. There wound up being a fluke in finance, allowing the Marketing Department to hire two interns versus originally only one. And what are the odds that after three rounds of interviews, we were the two chosen applicants for the positions. We decided our endeavors with our careers were more important and called our ‘relationship’ off. Some of us were sourer about that decision than others, and we wound up despising each other for the next 6 months – and yes we shared a cube together.
Every year in April, Pierce has its biggest trade show of the year down in Indianapolis. We were both excused from classes and asked to attend the show for a week. Being new to the company and industry, we didn’t know many co-workers at that time. Therefore we spent breakfast, show hours, and dinner together for the entire week. I even got Logan to go on a horse and carriage ride with me around downtown Indy (but don’t bring that up to him)!! Nevertheless sometime during that week – the spark was relit. Trust me, we were very professional! But we realized feelings were still there and started secretly dating for the next year – we didn’t know if we’d get in trouble or not with our boss so we thought it’d be best to keep our relationship hush hush. I graduated from UW-Oshkosh a semester earlier than Logan did and the day that I was offered and accepted a full-time position at Pierce, he was OUT! Logan went on to get an internship with Skyline Technologies that turned into his now full-time career. We truly believe that Pierce is the reason why we are still together to this day. The company forced us to work together and realize our true feelings for each other. Therefore this is why we will (hopefully) be having a Pierce fire apparatus at the reception. 🚒
In addition to his full-time job, Logan is also in the Army Reserves. He joined back when he was 18 years old. He truly loves serving in the military. Logan and I got engaged on New Year’s Eve of 2016. We had our wedding venue contract signed and down deposit paid for June 30, 2018. Little did we know; the Army was about to throw us quite the curve ball… and we found out that Logan would soon be getting deployed overseas and that he would not make it home in time for our June wedding. Our wedding venue, Brighton Acres, is pretty popular in the area and books up fast. But miraculously the venue was able to pull some strings and the latest available date that we could push our wedding out to is August 4, 2018 – our new wedding date. As we are uncertain of Logan’s exact return date to the States, all wedding details will be kept up-to-date and available on this website. Please keep Logan in your thoughts and prayers for a safe and TIMELY return home in 2018!
After serving overseas for 284 days, he's finally back home in Wisconsin! We can't wait to celebrate with you all in August!!
