One of my favorite stories is the one of how Ro and I met. After having just moved back to Dallas from Houston, it was my first weekend in my new apartment and an incredible June Friday afternoon. I decided to start out my weekend poolside, soaking in some rays and quality time alone with my new book. There was only one problem, I couldn’t figure out how to get into the locked gate… Good news for me was there happened to be one other person in the pool area at the same time. Bad news was that he was sleeping (and if you know Roman, you know that what I did next was a BIG no no). I walked over and proceeded to ask, “Am I dumb, or did you hop the fence to get in there?”. This of course woke ‘the sleeping bear’ up from his afternoon cat nap. It must have been my sparkling personality that kept him from murdering me for interrupting his rest, but he responded, “I had to hop the fence, unfortunately.” We chatted for another few moments there, and then I decided it was time for me to get changed and get back to my original plan! I remember vividly, staring out of my apartment window, watching him stand up like he was about to leave, and thinking to myself, ‘I can wait another few minutes and let him leave, OR I can go out there and just see what happens’. Well, you can assume from this story that I decided to go back out there! The best part of this story was later on, as we’re talking about everything and nothing, Ro leans over and asks me, “which apartment do you live in?” Which I answered that I lived right across from the pool. That wasn’t the part that has stuck with me for 3 years. It was Roman’s response to me asking which building he lived in. He answered, “Oh I don’t live at these apartments!”. and that was the moment I knew, I had either met my future husband, or a serial killer! I guess we’ll all find that answer out together!
