After a decade of being single, in January 2017 Maggie decided to start praying that God bring a good man into her life and she was ready to accept him. In February 2017, when leaving for work a few times a week a cyclist would pass her. Maggie who is active in the Greenville cycling community couldn't figure out who he was. One morning after seeing him she called a friend and said something along the lines of "There is a cyclist that goes by me almost every morning. I don't know who he is, but I know he's attractive"! Comments like this went on for awhile and telling others how dedicated this mystery cyclist was, since she had seen him riding in freezing temperatures. Needless to say she was impressed with him without even knowing him. Fast forward to September 2017 and feeling a little defeated in the dating game, she was headed to meet a friend for breakfast. As she was walking from her car, a guy she had exchanged numbers with texted her and said "want to go ride bikes sometime"? That was one way to get her attention. Two days later they met for dinner and realized he lived very close. The next day they went on their bike ride and all of the questions of the mysterious attractive cyclist were answered. Roman had been the one riding by her all along.
The last weekend of April 2019 was incredibly hectic as Roman was finishing up on some major home repair jobs for clients and he and Maggie were moving to their new house. Quiet and relaxing days had been far and few between for over a month, so Roman suggested they take a break from unpacking and go on a casual bike ride. It was definitely a welcomed break from the chaos. That morning after Church they geared up and put their dog Melrose in her backpack (she loves going on bike rides too) and headed out on the swamp rabbit trail. While heading back to the car, Roman suggested they stop at the lake at Furman University, also the site of their first cycling date. During the 20 or so minutes sitting there, Roman referenced it being his favorite place to go because of the memories and loving Maggie. He then asked if she was ready to head back out and head home. As she was about to stand up he got on one knee and said "the real reason I brought you here today was to ask you if you'll marry me"? She forgot to answer so he had to ask twice. Clearly it was a Yes!
