How We Met

February 7, 2025

Our Story Sometimes it seems that our meeting was not a coincidence. Every year we would go to serve during the week of prayer in Washington, D.C. In 2024, we were at the same event — together, in the same place, but we never met. It wasn't the right time then: each of us was going through difficult periods in our personal lives. Throughout that year, we worked on ourselves. We weren't looking for romantic relationships. We only prayed and wanted to hear God's voice. And exactly one year later, God gave us the gift of meeting each other. / When I saw Roma, he seemed very tall to me. A serious man with a slightly cold but calm gaze. He exuded confidence and inner peace. I remember how we held the flags next to each other, and for some reason I started bragging that Pennsylvania was a very beautiful state. I was talking energetically, and he stood nearby listening with a smile. When we left that room, we didn't even know each other's names. For me, it was just a pleasant, brief conversation. When the day was coming to an end, I approached an friend to say goodbye - it was already time for me to go home. And suddenly he appeared again. Roma came up and asked for my Instagram, and we exchanged information. Since he had been living in America for a long time, I thought back then that nothing would come of it - because his most comfortable language of communication was English. His Story I met Angelina in one of the small rooms near the International Ballroom at the Washington Hilton Hotel. It was 5 O’Clock in the morning, but Angelina was full of energy. She was impossible to miss with her curly red hair, standing barefoot telling me about how great of a state Pennsylvania was. I immediately knew that she was special, and that I should probably listen. When we finished practicing the flag carrying, and went our separate ways, I realized I did not even get her name. I kept her in the back of my mind as the day went on. I remember around lunch time we were eating lunch at the Four Oaks, and I was talking with my dad. I saw her walking through the window of the hotel, and I lost my train of thought. I realized I had to go say something, but by the time I decided that she had disappeared again. Later on during the evening, as the Gala dinner was coming to an end, I was walking around aimlessly, hoping to see her, and thankfully, I thankfully saw her as she was walking in to say bye to everyone. I was kind of unsure of how to ask for her number or instagram, and I remember she was saying something, but I can’t quite remember what because I was mostly looking at her eyes, and my heart was beating out of my chest. I remember someone in the group that we were standing in said that we should all stay in touch, and that gave me the opportunity to give her my phone, so she could give me her Instagram. And the rest is history. Continuation: And that was the beginning of a story that brought us to this day. To a beautiful ending and at the same time to the beginning of creating a new family. You are witnessing the birth of our family.
