We met four years ago through mutual friends on what was supposed to be a “double date” (emphasis on supposed to be). Back then, we were in totally different seasons of life—and let’s just say, there was zero spark. Jasmine thought I was stuck up, and I thought… well, less not say (if you know, you know, hunny). Fast forward four years, a whole lot of personal growth, and both of us deepening our walks with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ—we crossed paths again. It started small: just saying “hey” at church and having a few short convos. Before long, we were chatting regularly after Sunday service. As time went on, I started to see her heart—her genuine kindness, the way she serves others, and most importantly, her love for the Lord. That’s when something in me shifted. I knew I wanted to pursue more than just small talk. So, with a little courage (and a lot of encouragement from friends), I finally asked for her number. Not only did she agree—she snatched the phone out of my hand and added herself into my contacts like a boss. That’s when I knew… yep, she’s the one I’m gonna marry. Our first “date” was shopping for house furniture (don’t ask how that happened). It felt like hanging out with my best friend. Also, sidenote—do not go on a date while on a food fast. Just trust me. But honestly, it helped us focus on conversation and gave us something to laugh about later. From that point on, everything moved fast. It’s kind of a blur, but what I do know is this: loving her has been the most certain, peace-filled experience I’ve ever had. I can’t wait to ride this rollercoaster of life with her—till the grave. I love you Jasmine Rollins!! Jasmine's POV:
Soooo it all started when a lil birdy (aka Britney) was telling me about this guy who was friends with her husband. She showed me some photos of him, and he was cute or whatevuh. So, I decided to go on a double date with them and this guy. Turns out... we had nothing in common—except maybe a shared taste in worship music (and even then, he was “rude” about it). I thought he was too... like... ya know... less not say. After that, I told lil birdy, “never again.” I knew he wasn’t into me, and I definitely wasn’t into him. Done and done. About two years later, I gave my life to Christ and started consistently going to church. That’s when I started seeing Phillip regularly. Then, about a year ago, we kept bumping into each other—sharing some small talk here and there. And of course, lil birdy started working her matchmaking magic again, planting little ideas of what could be. Fast forward to September 12th—our church was having a live album recording. As I was walking out, Phillip popped out of nowhere and struck up a convo… then finally asked for my number. So yes, I grabbed his phone, put my number in, and called myself to make sure I had his number too—just in case. But I honestly didn’t think much of it. I had asked the Lord to keep me single for a while, so I figured, “Cool, I just made a new brother in Christ.” Boy, was I wrong. The next day, we started messaging and decided to hang out. We ended up shopping for furniture for his house. I didn’t expect anything from it… But the vibe was so natural. That one-store hangout turned into an all-day adventure. I got comfortable with him real quick, and I just knew this was gonna be something different. That next Sunday, we grabbed lunch after church and—completely unintentionally—I met his whole, wonderful family. That’s when I was like, “Yep. That’s my hussbannd.” Over the past seven months of courting/dating, I’ve seen so much in Phillip—his love for his family and friends, the way he serves the Lord, the way he loves me, and how he always speaks life into me. This season has been the most peace-filled time of my life. Everything just flowed. I know that’s because we’ve truly depended on the Lord to guide our relationship every step of the way. That was all the confirmation I needed, and I know I wouldn’t want to walk it with anyone else. Now, I get to do life with my partner, my best friend, my blessing. Shout out to Britney Gutierrez for being the best matchmaker of all time. We love you!
