It was the summer, and Erica and Dalton’s love story began the way many great ones do in the age of social media: with a slide into the DMs. Dalton reacted to Erica’s wakeboarding clip with a fire emoji and followed it up with, “What better way to spend a day than at the track?” But let’s rewind a bit. Dalton and Erica both preferred to spend as much of their free time as possible drag racing. So, like most of the racers who frequented Maple Grove, Numidia, and other East Coast strips every weekend, they knew of each other but had never formally met. That changed at Piedmont Dragway in North Carolina. Erica and her Dad typically stayed at the Northeast tracks, but for this race, Erica convinced him to head down South. When Dalton saw them there, he was shocked! They were the last people he expected to see. Dalton decided to ask for Erica’s number in the smoothest way he could think of: he said he needed a fellow racer’s address to send him a Christmas card and figured she might have it. The plan worked. He got the address… and Erica’s number, too. After that, they texted on and off. At first, Dalton was genuinely confused: why did Erica never respond to his “good night” texts? In Erica’s mind, it was simple: she didn’t want their conversations to end, so she just… didn’t end them. No goodnight, no goodbye. Just a silent promise that they would pick back up in the morning. Meanwhile, Dalton was convinced she was ghosting him on a daily basis. Thankfully, they cleared up the mix-up! It was after Dalton’s trip to the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon that things really clicked, and they started talking every day. Erica was juggling two jobs at the time and with her packed schedule, keeping track of when they could actually chat was tough. So, Dalton, ever thoughtful, started jotting down her work hours so he’d know when she was free. They had their first date at Panera Bread in Bloomsburg and ended up getting kicked out for staying and talking way past closing. Not long after, Erica wanted to plan something special for Dalton’s birthday. She suggested skiing, and Dalton said it sounded perfect... except he had never been skiing before. So, Dalton spent the next two weeks hitting the slopes and learning the ropes just in time for their date at Blue Mountain. From there, their relationship kicked into high gear. She went to visit him at his home in Muncy for the first time. Then, over Memorial Day Weekend, Dalton brought Erica to meet his family at their lake house. Just one week later, they took a trip to Ocean City, NJ and made things official. They spent that summer falling in love. But with nearly three hours between their homes, seeing each other wasn’t always easy. So, they took a leap and decided to live together. By January 2022, Erica had officially moved in with Dalton. Erica and Dalton have been building their lives together at their beautiful home in Muncy, PA ever since. They shared countless unforgettable experiences, but for Erica, one of the most exciting was finishing her racecar—a project brought to life with Dalton and her dad. It marked the moment she could finally hit the track in a car built with love. They’ve made incredible memories together and are rarely ever idle. Whether they’re working hard or playing harder, their adventures span snowmobiling trips, skiing, drag racing up and down the East Coast, work getaways, or family vacations at Dalton’s family’s lake house and the 1000 Islands with Erica’s family, and so much more. Now, they are so excited to start the next chapter of their story as husband and wife. As Dalton’s Nanny once so wisely said, “Every pot has its lid.” And in the case of Erica and Dalton, they couldn’t be a more perfect fit.
