Rolando and i went to high school together in our home town, Gorman, Texas. After graduation we both went on to live our own lives with travel & experiences. Fast forward to Peanut Festival 2018& also our 15 year high school reunion. While catching up on the years, i (andrea) felt like it was just yesterday that i had a MAJOR crush on him in high school. After some texting over the next couple of weeks, Rolando made a trip to Waco to "pick up golf clubs for a friend." So i took him on the "tourist for a day" outing :) took him to all the great places.. turns out the friend didnt exist and he just wanted to hang out :) Since he lived and worked in Gorman and i lived and worked in Waco, we spent the next couple months talking on the phone with sporadic visits back and forth. but it was one weekend in january with my family that i asked to be his girlfriend. -- to his response, i thought you already were :) after a nice,long courtship, to my 35th birthday weekend- :) he had planned to come to waco for a special dinner at our favorite restaurant ( Buzzard billy's - iykyk ) he was getting phone calls and a few more texts than usual - playing it off every so cool. It was after dinner that we went for a stroll down near McLane stadium, to our tree. the evening weather was beautiful with all of the stars out. We get to our spot, i take a seat facing away from the bridge, but he stood me up turned me around . I knew in that moment that he was going to ask me to marry him. && wanting to take in the awe moment; i kind of stood speechless for a couple seconds. He asked me again. With very deep and shaky giggles, i said YES! Never feeling more sure of anything in my life, we stood there for what felt like an hour before heading back to the car to get our phones to call our loved ones.
