Meet our family who are walking down the aisle with us.

Anthony Salas

Man of Honor

Anthony has been a huge part of Joseph’s life and has equally become an important part of Roland’s life. Anthony and Joseph are 13 months apart in age and 600 miles separated them growing up between Buena Vista, NM to Denton, TX. However, distance never really mattered because they would spend their summer's together. Joseph and Anthony would swap part of their summertime between Denton and Buena Vista. Joseph and Anthony would make their summer money by mowing lawns up and down Kings Row. Our memories from summers in Denton stem from hanging out at the local roller-skating rink, dinners at El Chico or at Mr. Frosty Drive-In with Brenda and Daniel. From hanging out at the Denton Mall and the bowling alley on Friday nights to going to Six Flags Over Texas, and late-night runs to Brums for ice cream and to Taco Bell. Their memories in Buena Vista range from walking the dirt roads, going fishing, and playing with illegal fireworks and setting off bottle rockets at each other until someone got burned with some second-degree burns. Now as adults they get to see each other multiple times throughout the year and always make time for an in-person Dallas Cowboy game. Joseph and Anthony have a unique way of understanding each other. They are both compassionate guys and have a similar thinking pattern. Joseph and Anthony’s siblings see them as “two of the same” or “cut from the same cloth.” Joseph and Roland are honored to have Anthony as their Man of Honor.

Lorena Salas

Best Woman

Lorena has been a huge part of Joseph’s life growing up and has equally become an important part of Roland’s life. Joseph shared his biggest secret with Lorena & Anthony on June 2020. Joseph revealed that he had been in a 15-year relationship with Roland. Joseph still recalls the moment – sitting in the back porch at their home having a glass of wine when he shared the news. Lorena & Anthony both jumped out of their seats and embraced him and told him how much they loved him and supported him in whomever it was that he chose to love. Interestingly and quickly their happiness shifted to “lighthearted anger.” Lorena’s words were “why didn’t you tell us sooner; we now have lost 15 years of celebrating your happiness.” However, they both understood that this sort news take time and there is no-timeline in when or how to share this type of news. What was going to be one glass of wine before turning in for the evening shifted to an entire evening of cocktails as we reflected, celebrated, and planned out a date that they would meet Roland in person. Lorena has always welcomed Joseph as a family member often making him feel more like a brother. Joseph has known Lorena since Anthony started dating her back in mid-school/high school and through their 27 years of marriage. Lorena has modeled the importance of what it takes to make a marriage successful and Joseph has had the benefit of witnessing in admiration. Joseph and Roland are honored to have Lorena as their Best Woman.
