Downtown Santa Cruz has a little bit of everything — shops, good food, live music, and plenty of people-watching. It’s where we had our very first date! We still love coming back to wander around and grab a bite.
Right in our backyard! If you are interested in hikes for all levels, take a little walk under the redwoods.
Whale City is where we first met! It’s a cozy spot right off Highway 1 with food, coffee, and ocean views. Stop in for breakfast or a pastry and take a quick walk down to the beach afterward.
A scenic path that runs along the coast — perfect for a walk, bike ride, or just watching the surfers at Steamer Lane. It’s a classic Santa Cruz spot, especially at sunset.
A colorful little beach town just down the road. There are lots of shops, restaurants, and a wide sandy beach to relax on.
A right of passage for UCSC students. A hidden swimming spot along the San Lorenzo River, surrounded by redwoods. It’s a short hike in and a nice place to cool off if the weather’s warm.
Our go-to coffee spot downtown. Great espresso, atmosphere, and a sunny outdoor patio.
A big sandy beach right at the end of West Cliff drive. Known for its natural arch and (seasonal) monarch butterflies!
Just north of Santa Cruz, offers spectacular hiking with coastal bluffs and redwood forests. Top trails include Old Cove Landing Trail (coastal views), Englesman Loop (redwoods/grasslands), and Wilder Ridge Trail. Head up to Whale City in Davenport afterwards for a scenic lunch.
Off Highway 1, approximately 1 mile south of Davenport. You have to see it to believe it. So many other fun beaches to explore nearby.
