what is love to us...?

“Both light and shadow are the dance of Love. Love has no cause, it is the astrolabe of God's secrets. Lover and loving are inseparable and timeless. Although I may try to describe love, when I experience it, I am speechless. Although I may try to write about love, I am rendered helpless. My pen breaks, and the paper slips away at the ineffable place where lover loving and loved are one. Every moment is made glorious by the light of Love.” - Rumi

How We Met

Working together created an environment for us to collaborate. Our collaborations turned to friendship. Somewhere along the way, amidst our countless conversations about books, movies and life, we said to ourselves, "Hmmm, maybe this is it!"

From the Bride...

Had someone told me just a few years ago that I'd be marrying Rohit, I would have balked at the concept. Not because he isn't incredibly charming and handsome, but because when I first met him, he was nothing like I'd imagined my future husband to be. Yet, as time revealed, he was everything I had ever wanted in a best friend. I mean, what better fortune and blessing than to be able to spend the rest of your life with your best friend under one roof? I wanted him to witness not only the most exquisite milestones of my life, but he was the one I wanted to share the most mundane parts of my world with, as well! Our journey thus far has not been a simple one, rife with complications and ups and downs, we have endured and persevered through more than we expected - but this is also what makes our story unique, it is also what makes our bond so strong. I cannot thank God enough, every day, that I get to marry my best friend because, as Emily Bronte so eloquently put it..."whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same". So, as Rohit and I begin our married life together, we invite you to share this magical beginning with us, and bless us on our journey forth...

From the Groom...

If you ask anyone who knows me, "where do you think Rohit met the girl of his dreams?" they will undoubtedly say "at the bookstore." It seems like just yesterday, I was hunting through the shelves at the local bookstore, looking for some obscure new release, when I ran into a familiar face. A friend from work! But who was this unknown person accompanying my friend? Little did I know at the time, this unknown person would become the most important person in my life. That first accidental meeting with Hira led to a planned, more formal meeting...if a stroll down the Riverwalk while having ice cream could be counted as formal. We soon began finding reasons to continue meeting more often, and our shared love of books was beginning to grow into a love for each other. Unbeknownst to even ourselves, during our discussions on who was more well-read (Rohit) or who was the better linguist (Hira), something truly amazing was happening! We were creating a separate world…a world which had its own beginning, its own people, and its own history. A world where her terrible movie choices were equally met with my atrocious taste in music, and where her overly-complicated crème brulee recipes were countered with my jelly-and more jelly-sandwiches. That’s when it dawned on me (and in my defense, things are usually slow to dawn on me)…this private little world was a place I never wanted to leave! It took a little bit of convincing, and some concessions on my part, such as promising to never play music early in the morning, but in the end Hira agreed as well. And so, I would like to invite our family and our closest friends, to come join Hira and I, for an evening, in the beautiful world our love has created.
