"Girl you gotta learn if you're gonna be my wife." Rohin Vij, circa December 2012 in reference to Kavya Sreevalsan making him her favorite food in this world: Chicken Biryani. Fast forward to October 2022 when Kavya finally cooks it for Rohin while also managing to burn herself. #lovehurts Food has always been the third wheel of this relationship. It all started when Rohin took Kavya out to the park on their first date on Sweetest Day, October 2012, and brought her Switzerland chocolate. Soon thereafter he continued to woo her with a homemade meal of burgers and lava cake. He then really sealed the deal in March 2013 when he surprised her with a candlelit homemade Italian dinner and the best chocolate bread pudding she ever had! Whether it be Mi Rancho Mexican in Rootstown, OH during their medical school days to ice cream at B'more Licks in Baltimore, MD where Kavya completed her internal medicine residency and Rohin completed his transitional year to Michelin Star Sushi Nakazawa in New York City, NY where Rohin completed his ophthalmology residency and Kavya completed her geriatrics fellowship to good ole Olive Garden in Gainesville, FL where Rohin completed his cornea fellowship and Kavya was an Associate Program Director for an Internal Medicine residency- Kavya and Rohin have eaten it all! Now that they have both completed their medical training, they are looking forward to what new food adventures await them in Columbus, Ohio where Kavya will be an Assistant Professor of Geriatrics at The Ohio State University and Rohin will be in private practice as an ophthalmologist. OH-IO!

It was a beautiful crisp spring day in New York City. Kavya was visiting from Baltimore for the weekend. It was the last weekend before her sister's wedding that she was going to see Rohin. She had previously told Rohin she had wanted to be engaged before her sister's wedding and hoped it would happen this weekend. She had low expectations however because the plan for the weekend was that they were going to meet up with their good friends from out of town and attend a fancy private cocktail party sponsored by a private jet company that they were able to get tickets for. The day started off great with a tapas brunch in the city catching up. Then they took a break to get some rest before the party at night. While everyone was napping, Kavya was looking up things to do after the cocktail party like a comedy show at her favorite place, The Comedy Cellar. She was obviously clueless about what would happen next. Rohin and Kavya were to meet their friends at Chelsea pier for this party. As they are driving by the river, Kavya turns to Rohin and tells him one day she wants them to take a cruise of the city and see the Statue of Liberty. When they arrive at the pier Kavya is convinced they are in the wrong place. Rohin convinces her he knows the directions and gets her to walk down the pier to a yacht. Kavya is still hesitant given as far as she could tell no one else was on this yacht but she trudges onward. As soon as she climbs ups the steps she sees a picture of herself and Rohin on the table and is unbelievably excited about what will happen next! Not only did Kavya get engaged that day but also got to celebrate with her closest friends and family! They spent the next couple of hours cruising along the East River and had the most epic view of the Statue of Liberty. It was the most perfect NYC proposal!
