We're Getting Married!

It was our junior year at Saint Louis University when we both decided to spend a semester studying abroad in Madrid, Spain. We had never met one another until the first day of Salsa class. Elise could not resist the temptation of becoming dance partners with Matt once she saw his smooth hips. Similarly, Matt was easily distracted by Elise’s beautiful blue eyes and fun personality. Matt instantly knew he had to ask her out. After a date to San Miguel Mercado and multiple trips to their favorite bar Star Studios, Matt realized he wanted to make things ‘official’ with her. Deciding to go to Switzerland together later in the semester, we officially began our relationship. Fast forward to graduation from SLU, Matt took a job in Kansas City, and Elise continued her Doctorate Degree in St. Louis, officially beginning their long distance relationship. We made the most out of it with frequent visits back and forth and explored new cities on weekends whenever we had the chance. At the start of 2019, we made the decision to move to the West Loop in Chicago while both working for Northwestern Medicine. After five and half years of dating, Matt knew he wanted to take the next step in their relationship. Enjoying a glass of wine one night with Elise’s parents, Matt asked to marry their wonderful daughter and they said yes! May 5th, 2019, Matt took Elise to North Pond for lunch in Lincoln Park. Elise thought she was meeting her family, but as she was looking out at the view of the city, Matt dropped to his knee and asked Elise to marry him and be his best friend and soulmate for life. Thereafter, both families joined us at Z Bar to continue the celebration. We feel incredibly blessed to have found one another, and we can’t wait to start our life together as husband and wife!
