We met in high school through mutual friends. In high school, Rohan thought Dhara was "the prettiest Indian girl at the school" and Dhara thought Rohan wore blush because of his rosy cheeks. We remained good friends throughout high school, playing frisbee, volleyball and other sports with our friends and getting together for movie nights, etc!

Dhara invited her high school friends to visit her at school and this group included Rohan too. The night before everyone was supposed to come, Dhara kept getting texts from everyone saying they could no longer make it. The one person that still decided to come was Rohan. They had been talking nearly every day, so she didn't think much of it. They hung out with all of her new college friends along with some of her childhood friends. Everyone could tell that there was something more than a friendship between us, but we obviously did not see it at the time!

Rohan and Dhara were always hanging out in a group setting. After spending some time with each other, Rohan decided he really wanted to ask Dhara out on a date, one-on-one. Although their first date was to the movies over Thanksgiving break, Rohan would argue that the first date was the night he took her to Downtown Chicago to get dinner and go ice skating. That night, Rohan asked Dhara to be his girlfriend!! :)

Everyone kept asking us when we would get engaged since we had already been dating for many years. Rohan was ready to propose to Dhara whenever she was, but Dhara insisted on waiting until she was done with graduate school. Fast forward to the middle of 2019, Rohan and Dhara planned a trip to Maui. Dhara really wanted to have a picnic on the beach and take some pictures with Rohan. Little did she know, that Rohan had tirelessly planned a proposal. He hired a professional photographer to capture the beautiful moment and decided that he would propose during our picnic. His first picnic spot did not work out because the tide was too high, so Rohan and the photographer scrambled to find another beach without Dhara finding out. We finally set up the picnic and started to take pictures. The proposal was the MOST MAGICAL moment filled with laughter and love. He did an incredible job!
