Fly into O'Hare International Airport (ORD). It is only about a 20-minute drive from Itasca. Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW) is also an option but sits on the city's south side, roughly 45 to 60 minutes away.
Renting a car is a highly personal choice however it might be best if you could carpool. Itasca is a suburban area where rideshares (Uber/Lyft) are available but can potentially have longer wait times, and most shopping, dining outside of the wedding venue requires driving.
Take the Metra Milwaukee District West (MD-W) train from the Itasca station. It drops off directly at Chicago Union Station in about an hour. This avoids massive highway traffic and expensive city parking.
It is best to stay in the Itasca/Schaumburg hotel block area. High-end suburban options like the Westin Chicago Northwest dominate the local skyline and sit right in Itasca. Westin Itasca has provided us a block rate and a link for the same is provided in the Travel section of this website. Should you run into non availability of rooms at Westin, please let us know and we will try and coordinate with the Westin program for adding additional rooms / nights. Staying downtown means a grueling 1-hour commute each way on the wedding day and we would rather have you spend that time indoors vs staying on the road
August is hot, humid, and peak summer. Expect daytime highs around 80°F to 85°F (27°C–29°C)
Besides your wedding wear, you may want to bring lightweight clothing for exploring including comfortable walking shoes, sunglasses, and sunscreen. A light jacket or sweater may come in handy for indoor air conditioning
The schedule provided lists the recommended attire. We attempted to keep it light and the overall tone balanced sticking to mostly traditional wear
You don’t have to go downtown to get iconic Chicago food. Head to nearby Schaumburg for deep-dish pizza at Lou Malnati's or Giordano's, or grab a classic Chicago-style hot dog at Portillo
Yes! Downtown Chicago features incredible architecture river tours and world-class museums. Locally, you can visit the Busse Forest Elk Pasture or enjoy premier shopping at Woodfield Mall.
