Our love story began like so many modern romances – with a swipe on Hinge. We decided to meet up at Jaxon’s Beer Garden for our first date, not knowing how significant that name would become. A year later, Jaxon would also be the name of our beloved Golden Retriever, a special anniversary gift from Chris. That first date was unforgettable and set the tone for our relationship: full of laughter, adventure, and a little bit of fun chaos. We hopped from bar to bar, and at one point, I unknowingly ordered an Old Fashioned (a drink I don’t actually like). Chris was so impressed with my “sophisticated” choice that I couldn’t bring myself to admit the truth – so I powered through it, while Chris enjoyed his fruity cocktail. It’s a memory that still makes us laugh to this day. The night ended on a high note when Chris showed off the rooftop of his apartment, offering a stunning view of downtown Dallas. From that night on, we were inseparable. Chris’s friends quickly became mine, and our connection grew stronger with every passing day. What started with a dating app and a rooftop view has turned into a beautiful journey filled with shared adventures, a growing circle of friends, and one adorable dog who completes our little family.
Chris proposed during a magical trip to Whitefish, Montana – a trip I had been planning for months to celebrate Chris’s early 30th birthday. With friends, fun activities, and decorations all in place, I thought I had everything planned. What I didn’t know was that Chris had something even more special up his sleeve. Leading up to the trip, I wasn’t sure if this was the moment Chris would propose. A friend had convinced me I’d have to wait, which was a bit of a letdown. Then, just before we left, Chris casually mentioned we’d be having breakfast with the owner of his company, who just happened to be in Whitefish. I agreed without questioning it. Our adventure started with a rodeo night, with everyone keeping cool and giving no hints of what was to come. The next morning, we drove to Glacier National Park for our “business breakfast.” I thought it was strange the breakfast was so far away, but didn’t think much of it. When we arrived, I realized I wasn’t dressed for the chilly weather, but Chris remained calm as we walked to a beautiful picnic set up by the lakeshore. I whispered that it seemed too romantic for a business meeting, but Chris brushed it off. It wasn’t until one of the women froze in surprise that I realized something was happening. Before I could process, Chris pulled out a heartfelt letter, got down on one knee, and proposed with the most beautiful ring. I, in a mix of shock, laughter, and tears, said “YES!” We celebrated with a picnic full of my favorites – Sauvignon Blanc and hydrangeas – before heading to what I thought was a birthday dinner for Chris. To my surprise, it was a celebration with our closest friends. Whitefish will always hold a special place in our hearts – the backdrop of a proposal and the start of forever.
