Our Story

Cruising Into Love

Our journey began aboard the Carnival Panorama on August 29, 2021. It was a sunny cruise day, and we were just two strangers enjoying a casual drink—Heather with her mom and friends, and John with his brother. After a light-hearted conversation, Heather walked away but quickly texted her mom: “Invite those guys to the deck party later!” And she did. That evening, fate brought us back together under the stars at the deck party. From there, we wandered into the piano bar, laughing and singing late into the night—only to discover that our cabins were directly across the hall from one another. Coincidence? We think not. From that moment on, we were inseparable. By the end of the cruise, John had already booked a flight to Southern California to visit Heather. But in a twist worthy of a rom-com, the night before his flight, he called Heather to say he had canceled it. Her heart sank—until he added, “Because I’m already driving to you right now!!!” Over the next year, we crisscrossed California, traveling between Southern and Northern parts of the state to spend time together. In April 2023, we took the leap and moved into John’s fifth wheel travel trailer, settling in a riverfront parking spot in Rio Vista. Later, we found ourselves drawn to Loomis and made it our home, knowing we wanted to build our future in this area. Then, on a rainy, windswept cliff overlooking the ocean in Pacifica, California — on February 17, 2024 — John got down on one knee and asked Heather to marry him. Through tears and laughter, she said “yes!” That August, we bought our first home, just ten minutes from where we'd been living in Loomis — close enough to feel familiar, but far enough to feel like a new beginning. Now, we’re so excited to start this next chapter—officially—as husband and wife. And we’re thrilled that all of you are sharing this adventure with us!
