We’re Getting Married!

Courtney had just returned home for the summer after finishing her freshman year in college. She was off to find a summer job and ended up applying at Apple Market in Platte City and got the job on the spot. After training for two days, she was leaving to go home and while she was clocking out she noticed Cody and Cody noticed her. If you ask Cody, he would say he noticed her butt first. The next time she was working Cody was working too. That’s when they started talking and right away they felt a connection. Cody had to show Courtney how to clean and close the store the first night they worked together. They were both flirting with each other the entire time. Courtney would get nervous whenever she would have to ask Cody a question and so on...you know that feeling. After about a week, Courtney’s boss asked her if she would work in the meat department on the weekends so she said yes. The first day of working back there, an employee told Courtney that he knows a guy who would love to date her. He said, “He went to Mizzou, he has a sister, and he is like 21 years old.” Courtney knew immediately he was talking about Cody, but didn’t say anything. Courtney noticed that Cody would walk back and through the meat department a lot and the guy who she was working with said he never went in there. She just knew what he was doing :) Cody thought it would be smooth to give her his number in case she wanted to “switch shifts.” Courtney was brave enough to give her number back and immediately after Cody texted her. Then on June 5, 2014 Cody asked Courtney to be his girlfriend with the help of his dog, Tyson.

Cody has always told Courtney that he will propose after he graduates college. Before this though they were planning on getting married 3 months into dating. Well, the time came for Cody to graduate college and it was the same day that Courtney was graduating college. They both graduated from Missouri Western State University. Since they both graduated on Cinco de Mayo Courtney wanted to eat her Mexican food! Both of their families planned to have to have a party at a local restaurant after the graduation. They ordered their food and while they were waiting, Cody and Courtney decided to open up their gifts. After Courtney was finishing up her last gift, Cody got down on one knee! Of course, she said yes but had to wait until Cody asked!! Courtney loved that he asked in front of her grandparents because some of them aren’t in the best shape. He took that into consideration and made her the absolute happiest! Back story: Cody bought the ring, asked her dad, and planned this out the day before he proposed! Cody had also always told Courtney that he would do it in private and not in front of people. He tricked her!
