dating

July to December 2025

Rogan and Kaitlyn's friendship began through rock climbing with Christian Climbers and starting up a young adults group at church. They shared a love of adventure and Jesus, and after a few weeks of getting to know eachother they started to hang out one-on-one. Rogan patiently taught Kaitlyn how to climb, and Kaitlyn gave Rogan a reason to like hiking. After a long weekend in the Shuswap, it was evident that they were on the same page about what Christian dating meant/looks like, and they decided to give it a shot. The summer consisted of many adventures. Some of their favourite memories are: - Hiking the Echo Lake trail - Early morning water skis on Shuswap Lake - Hiking Teapot in Williams Lake - Climbing Indra's Net on their one-month anniversary - And picnicking on the Squamish River At the beginning of September, Kaitlyn went back to school in Calgary, and long-distance dating began for Rogan and Kaitlyn. Though the distance was far, their love for eachother grew exponentially. The time apart made the times together all the sweeter. They visited on holidays and birthdays and spent many, many hours on the phone talking to each other. Christmas break promised the longest period of time together for Rogan and Kaitlyn since the summer.

The proposal

Kaitlyn thought when Rogan said that he wanted to hike the Chief in the rain that it was just another one of their adventures. The rain turned to snow part of the way up the trail. They found a nice lookout (or what would've been a nice lookout if it wasn't snowing) and huddled under Rogan's tarp. Rogan made sure that Kaitlyn was okay under the tarp before stepping out and getting down on one knee. Through happy tears and the biggest smile ever, Kaitlyn said a responded with an excited "absolutely'!

Ephesians 5:22-33

22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands. 25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, 26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. 28 In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, 30 because we are members of his body. 31 “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” 32 This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. 33 However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
