When we think back on our story we cant help but smile. We met at 21/22 & I was joining my friend Jamie to her friend Warrens birthday celebration at Laugh Factory. We carpooled & I ended up between Jamie and Mike. I could tell Mike knew he could get the ladies & he thought I was playing hard to get. Odd enough I wasn't my shy self that night, it was true. We all ended up in Warren’s garage where I left my jacket. That was Mikes in to text Jamie to bring me back sometime to pick it up from him. Smooth, but it worked. We dated a while until Mike gave me an ultimatum. I chose independence, but quickly regretted it. I called to fix it, but he gave a solid “too late”. He reached out about a year later to make amends. We still had an obvious connection but... you know. We both now know that we were often on each other’s minds. Fast-forward 8(ish) years, I'm 3 months pregnant & he texts me, my heart dropped. Come to find out he’s finally single, and I’m pregnant! I thought to myself “Really? NOW you text me?” We took it slow… JUST KIDDING! Honestly, it was almost as if we picked up where we left off. The worst or the best timing? Best.
Jess: I knew there was a chance he would propose on our family trip to San Antonio, but the moment it happened I was completely shocked! We took a photo on a bridge over the Riverwalk & next thing I knew he was down on one knee asking me to marry him! I cried & freaked because of all the people watching. I never thought I wanted a crowed around but every time I watch the video of him proposing I get chills and especially love hearing the cheers. I can NOT wait to marry him & become an official family with Troy! Growing our family will be the best part of all! Mike: Well, we had a trip planned to go to San Antonio to see some of Jessica's extended family. I thought to myself what a great way to take our relationship to the next level... So I spent the better half of a year thinking of ways to accomplish my goal. Thanks to the Cruz family for helping me out, we all took a casual stroll along the Riverwalk in San Antonio. When I saw that perfect timing on that bridge in front of everyone, I thought to myself how awesome would it be to do exactly what she didn't want me to do and propose to her in front of many strangers? So I did just that.. I got down on one knee and asked her the most important question of my life. I'll never forget that day and never forget that place.
