We began dating in late October while attending Michigan State University. Maisie was a freshmen and Nathan was a junior. Their dorms were across from each other and this was perfect because Maisie’s first winter in Michigan was one of the coldest winters. Our relationship would have probably fizzled out had we not lived near each other (seriously). This time of the year is our favorite time. We both love Halloween and this is traditionally the weekend of the Michigan State and Michigan football game (Go Green!). We made it through that winter and the rest is history!

We were celebrating our 5 year anniversary and we had to drop off Penny at Maisie’s moms. Maisie had an idea that Nathan would be proposing so she thought if he was going to propose, it would be in a private setting. She was completely surprised when the proposal included most of her family. When we arrived, Nathan led Maisie to the backyard that was lit up with hundreds of twinkly lights. There was a marquee sign at the end of the pathway that read “Will U Marry Me?” Nathan put the engagement ring on Penny’s collar and when it was time for Maisie to put it on, Penny kept trying to run away. It was a beautiful moment that we will cherish forever.
