Let's Get Hitched!

It was my senior year at NYU. I was going to hackathons all over the tristate area. New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts and they all led me to Stony Brook, Long Island. Me and my team of five arrived and took a spot at the Melville Library. Soon enough my very extroverted roommate made friends with one of the administrators of the event Josh. The event was beginning and we figured we needed some additional space. We saw an unused empty desk at the corner of the room. We moved the desk over to our group of tables. Two minutes later Josh comes in followed by a boy in an SBUHacks sweatshirt. Josh sees the desk and tells us "It's fine, just don't move anything else." We thank him and the boy says "I was just making sure." This is when me and my roommate look at each other like "WTF". Later, Josh comes over and asks us to guess his age. Using my detective skills I go on Facebook and search "John Stony Brook University" and guess who comes up? The boy who told on us. I immediately friend him on Facebook cause I gotta kill him with kindness right? Now for the rest of the night every time we see him, me and my roommate wave and say "HI John". He looks up confused every time. We kept talking on Facebook and a week later we went on our first date at the Main Street Board Game Cafe. Who knew that typo on Facebook would end up being my future husband? Love finds you when you least expect it and I'm forever grateful mine found me. <3

Who knew this would end up being so chaotic?! John and I had planned an early anniversary road trip up to Acadia National Park in Maine to see the fall foliage. We stopped in a ton of other cities along the way such as Hartford, Providence, Boston, Salem, Gloucester, Rockport, Camden, and Portland. Let me know if y'all want the itinerary! Once we reached Bar Harbor, we were dying to try some food. The small little island town was full of vibrant shops and cute dining spots, it was hard to pick just one. Highly recommend trying the coffee shops in the morning. The 1st day of our 3 day stay was full of shopping and walking and talking. I got to try blueberry ice cream and bought a million things from a million stores. The next day we were up bright and early for a sunrise view up from Cadillac Mountain, the most popular trail in Acadia. However when we reached the ranger gate to enter that part of the park, we were asked for our reservation, which neither one of us had nor knew about. Ranger explained it was required for this time of year and that the next best view of the sunrise would be over at Sand Beach. John quickly u-turns and starts gunning it for Sand Beach. Meanwhile I'm a little bummed out and tell John we should just head back and have breakfast at the BnB. He insists on going. Little do I know what he has planned. We get to the beach and there's probably like 2 other people there. We find our spot and John says "I was planning to do this up at the mountain" and he pulls out the ring. Immediate tears, "Are you for real?" says Claudia lol. After an hour long photo session, haha we stop at a few other locations around the park just cause it's so early that no one else is around and then we make our way back into town, immediately call friends and family, and grab breakfast. We also booked a tour in the trolley bus that would take us around the park to the spots we missed like Cadillac Mountain, Jordan's Pond and Thunder Hull. It was the perfect ending to such a special trip <3
