Of all places, their story began at college orientation while they were scheduling classes. Julian’s sister, MaryClaire, in classic big-sister fashion, had given him a “cheat sheet” with the best classes and professors to take. Lauren and Julian sat next to each other, and after making fun of him for choosing "Weather and Climate" as his science credit, Julian revealed his cheat sheet, which Lauren immediately copied. From then on, 90% of their classes were together, but more importantly, they spent almost every day together. They were best friends for years before deciding to date. After Julian graduated and returned home to Covington, LA, and Lauren wrapped up grad school, they moved into their first place, which became affectionately known as the “Boathouse.” It was the perfect spot for watching USM baseball and hosting poker nights. Then, in November 2024, Julian proposed at their favorite spot—on their dock. It was where they had spent countless hours fishing, laughing, and trying to keep their Dachshund, Roux, from eating baby catfish.
