Jamie and Rodney met during their sophomore year of high school, roaming the halls of C.K. McClatchy. There was not a love connection right from the get go with these two. Jamie was a popular student athlete and Rodney was a class clown, or in other words, a troublemaker with Bieber hair. Both graduated (Rodney barely), and went on to lead very different lives...until they met again.
Soon enough, these two found themselves going to school once again in their hometown of Sacramento. Jamie transferred back to Sac State after her first year at CSUN and Rodney was collecting financial aid checks while attempting to do the school thing (not well I might add) at Sac City College. Jamie was "talking" to one of Rodney's friends and that friend mentioned it to Rodney while they were hanging out. Rodney figured he had always liked Jamie, but never had the cojones to ask her out. A day or two later Rodney created a Facebook just to find her, and find her he did. He asked her to go to a movie and it ended up becoming one hell of a first date. After Paranormal Activity the two headed to a sushi restaurant where they enjoyed sake bombs and edamame. The edamame was on the house because the hostess (an 80 year old Asian woman) thought Rodney was trying to get Jamie drunk to take advantage of her (hostess actually said this to the couple). After the sake, the two of them went back to Jamie's house to battle each other on the N64 (Rodney got DESTROYED...duh). The instant connection was undeniable and it was obvious these two were in it for the long haul.
After years of promising that he would take her, Rodney finally took Jamie to the beautiful Avenue of the Giants in Mendocino county. What Jamie did not know was that Rodney was planning on asking for her hand in marriage while on this trip. It was just approaching sunset when Rodney and Jamie first arrived to a location in the middle of some gorgeous giant redwood trees and there was just enough time to get in a short hike before heading to the hotel for the night. Fully prepared, but full of butterflies, Rodney was ready. About 15 minutes into their hike Rodney stopped them in a spot he felt was perfect. He then gave Jamie a typical Rodney excuse for leaving her for a few minutes... he had to take a nature poo. He found a spot behind a redwood and began to change into a full suit he had stuffed into his hiking backpack as quickly as possible. What he failed to account for is the creepiness of his soon to be fiance. She had crept up on him to try to snap a pic of her man pooping in the woods. She caught him with his suit on without shoes. Rodney panicked, Jamie was super confused, and Rodney could not speak as easily as he thought, especially with the surprise. Once he got the words to form and flow from his mouth Jamie was in disbelief, but full of happiness. This was the one and only time Rodney was able to surprise her in their 8 years of dating... She obviously said yes!!!
