How it All Started We met at church — Avery was in the middle of a deep, meaningful conversation with a friend when Rodney showed up, trying (and mostly failing) to get her attention. She did her best to ignore him. Little did she know that the guy she was brushing off would eventually become the answer to more prayers than she could’ve imagined. One of our most memorable early adventures was a lake day Rodney planned with friends. A few of his friends got on board with getting Avery on the back of his jet ski. Right before they took off, Rodney told her to hold on. Confidently (and maybe a little stubbornly), Avery replied, “I don’t need to.” Moments later, she was launched into the lake. Rodney still insists it was an accident. Avery still has her doubts. As our relationship grew, so did our love for each other — and our willingness to meet in the middle. Avery’s intention showed as she prioritized learning bits of German and leaned into the farm experience with horseback rides and quiet visits to the field. Meanwhile, Rodney got a crash course in Dewbury chaos — the loud, unscheduled, fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants energy that comes with marrying into this crew. Somehow, it all just works. Our shared faith has been the foundation of everything — not just how we met, but how we continue to grow. Being part of the same church community has shaped who we are, and how we love: with purpose, joy, and a lot of prayer. That said… our competitive streaks are still going strong. When it comes to games, all bets are off. Whether it’s cards, Catan, or corn hole, we take no prisoners. Avery’s Heartland dreams came true when Rodney proposed in a quiet field, surrounded by horses and a hidden photographer. It was simple, thoughtful, and very us. Now, we’re planning a wedding that feels just right: a little bit classy, a little bit farm, a touch of backyard magic — with good snacks, great music, and the people we love most. We’re so excited to celebrate, worship, and dance with you as we start this next chapter together.
