Maeve and Rodger met in 2018 during the second semester of Maeve’s freshman year and Rodger’s sophomore year at the University of Dayton. Though they grew up just one town apart, they didn’t cross paths until college, thanks to mutual friends who visited UD one weekend (shoutout bridesmaid and groomsman Olivia and Danny!). Maeve was invited to a pregame at Rodger’s apartment and accidentally walked right past him without saying hi. During the pregame, she ordered a BBQ chicken pizza, ate two slices, and offered Rodger the rest of the pizza. Little did she know, food was the key to his heart, and Rodger was immediately smitten. Later, Rodger caught Maeve’s attention with his contagious laugh and she thought he was pretty funny. They began talking after that weekend, and Rodger soon asked Maeve on their first date to a very sophisticated and authentic Mexican restaurant: Chipotle. They spent the rest of the semester hanging out, meeting each other’s friends, and going to formals and date parties together. By finals week, they made it official. Over the next seven years, their love deepened and evolved as they grew together through college, long distance, and new careers. In recent years, they’ve loved calling Chicago home and making some of their favorite memories in the city together. In May 2025, during their anniversary trip to the Isle of Palms, South Carolina, Rodger proposed on a pier overlooking the ocean, and Maeve said yes! In August, they moved to Arlington Heights, IL. They’re so excited to start this next chapter and can’t wait to celebrate their love with family and friends in September 2026!
